EXPERIENCE
Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Hurley took a full-time position at Knechtel, Demeur & Samlan. Mr. Hurley has more than 20 years of experience in advising clients in all facets of intellectual property law (listed below) in the United States and throughout the world; as well as real estate and corporate matters:

Patent
Counseling clients on patent novelty searches; filing patent applications, procuring and protecting utility, design, and method patents in a variety of technology fields including: household products, pet products, toys, roofing equipment, electric motors, sulkies, equine devices, sports training aids and exercise equipment, cooking devices, dental articulators, pumps and flotation devices, wind turbines, medical devices such as angioplasty, stent, and cuvettes; computer software, and methods of doing business; confidentiality agreements, patent assignment agreements; licensing of patent rights; infringement and validity issues; and enforcing and defending patents in litigation through U.S. courts.
            
Trademarks
Extensive experience in conducting trademark clearance searches, filing trademark applications, prosecuting and protecting trademarks, service marks, and tradenames for word and design/logo marks and all types of goods and services; trademark license agreements; concurrent use agreements; trademark assignment agreements. This further includes enforcing and defending trademarks in Opposition and Cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB); enforcement of trademark and domain names through Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Copyrights
Filing for and registering creative works for copyright protection; enforcement of copyrights through registrars and internet service providers; copyright license agreements; computer software cloud terms of services (SaaS), subscription agreements; copyright assignment agreements.

Internet Law
Preparation of website legal terms and conditions, privacy policies.

Real Estate
Servicing clients on buying, selling, leasing commercial and residential real estate properties from the beginning of the transaction through executed contracts/documents and closing. This includes real estate contract negotiation and amendments, due diligence, closings; title insurance; tract searches; easements. Many of these transactions have been for properties in the millions of dollars.

Prior to law school, Mr. Hurley worked at Ogden/ERC Government Systems handling technical oversight of the Tomahawk Cruise Missile Consolidated Database. Mr. Hurley also programmed and developed a Total Quality Management (TQM) Database for the Department of Navy Program Executive Office Cruise and Unmanned Aerial Joint Vehicles Project and configured and integrated a Novell Netware local area network system and layers.
